How to Install
Bamboo Shield contains running bamboo by blocking its shallow rhizomes — and it goes in over a single afternoon.
- Mark the line. Decide exactly where the bamboo may grow — a straight screen, a curve, or a full enclosure.
- Dig a trench along that line, about 28″ deep. Bamboo roots live in the top ~14″ of soil, so the barrier only has to go a little deeper.
- Stand the barrier vertically in the trench, leaving 2–3″ above grade so surface rhizomes can't climb over the top.
- Overlap and clamp the ends so no root can slip through the seam.
- Backfill and tamp. That's it — one afternoon for decades of worry-free containment.

FAQs
Will it stop the bamboo completely?
Yes — when it's installed deep enough and a few inches stay above grade so rhizomes can't crest the top edge. Trim back any stray shoot that tries to surface right along the barrier.
How deep do I install it?
About 28″, with 2–3″ left above the soil line. Bamboo roots run shallow — in the top ~14″ — so you don't need to dig to China.
Which thickness should I choose?
A heavier (thicker-mil) barrier for vigorous runners and aggressive clumpers; the standard mil handles most temperate running bamboo.
