The privacy problem
Your fence stops at six feet. Their second-story windows don't.
A taller fence needs a permit — and still looks like a wall. Lattice yellows and cracks by its second winter. Shade trees take a decade. Most "privacy" fixes are slow, ugly, or against the rules.
Why bamboo
A living wall, not a fence.
Bamboo is the fastest-growing plant on earth — an evergreen screen that fills in fast, stays green through winter, and looks like a destination instead of a barrier. Pick the right species for your climate and you get real privacy in a season or two, not ten years.
↑Fast
The fastest-growing privacy plant there is — a full screen in a season or two, not a decade.
❄Evergreen
Green all year. No bare winter sticks, no raking, no replacing cracked plastic.
⤢Tall
10, 20, 40 feet and up — privacy at the height a fence can't legally reach.
✦Beautiful
Soft, rustling, alive. A screen the whole neighborhood stops to look at.

The questions everyone asks first
"Won't it take over?"
Only if you plant the wrong kind. Choose a clumping bamboo — it stays put, no barrier needed — or pair a running variety with a Bamboo Shield root barrier and you set the borders. The planner flags which is which.
"Will it survive my winter?"
The planner only shows species proven for your growing zone — and the mature height you'll actually reach there. We grow screens hardy from zone 5 on up.
"How do I get a big order home?"
We ship nursery-fresh nationwide. Larger, instant-impact sizes come by dedicated freight, delivered curbside — hand-dug so they arrive healthy and ready to plant.
"Is it hard to plant?"
Dig, drop, water. Every order ships with a spacing & planting guide, and our team helps you choose. Backed by our healthy-arrival guarantee.
Privacy screen FAQ
How many plants do I need?
That's exactly what the planner figures out — enter your footage and it spaces the run and gives you the quantity and total. As a rule, screening bamboo is planted 3–5 feet apart.
How fast will it fill in?
Most screens read as private by the second season and keep thickening from there. Warmth, water, and full sun speed it up; instant-impact sizes give you a head start.
Is bamboo evergreen?
Yes — the species we grow for screening hold their leaves year-round, so your privacy doesn't disappear in winter.
Running vs. clumping — which do I want?
Clumping bamboo stays in a tidy clump (no barrier needed) but fills a long run more slowly. Running bamboo makes a fast, seamless screen and is kept in bounds with a Bamboo Shield barrier. The planner tells you which each option is.
Is it pet-safe?
True bamboo (the genera we grow) is listed as non-toxic to dogs, cats, and horses — one more reason it beats many hedge plants.
