This species of dwarf variegated bamboo is one of the most desirable. It is very cold hardy with a minumum temp of -10 degrees F.This bamboo is especially effective when used as a ground cover.The leaves die back in colder winters but returns in Spring with the conspicuous stripe which is this species most distinctive feature. |
So popularly named for the leaves clustered at the tips of the culms and branches.The leaves are around 2 to 6 incles long and about 1 inch wide, having tiny soft hairs on the under sides.This species should be mulched heavily in the colder regions of the north. |
