'Dwarf Green Stripe'
Pleioblastus viridistriatus

This is a dwarf ornamental bamboo that grows to a maximum of three feet.

The bamboo is very bright yellow with green stripes in the spring. Then in the summer, it starts to turn green with dark green stripes that start fading also.

Pleioblastus viridistriatus in the summer.

This is what a grove looks like in the summer after the leaves have turned to a lighter green with dark green stripes. It is very beautiful. The leaves tend to curl in full sun, so semishade locations are preferred.

We mow this down in the winter because it tends to start looking rather ragged. By doing this, it seems to make it come back thicker.
Cold Hardiness to - 10 degrees F.
