Sunday, December 6th

Roy and Patricia made a trip over from Monroe, LA to take a tour and purchase bamboo this cold Sunday morning. This is a grove of Amabilis or Tonkin cane bamboo in this picture. This bamboo is used exclusively in the construction of bamboo flyrods and is a very unique species. Amabilis Bamboo
Phyllostachys Nigra 'Megurochiku' We are looking at a grove of Phyllostachys nigra 'Megurochiku' or black stripe bamboo. The black stripe appears with age and is prevalent in the upper portions of the canes.
We have over 150 varieties of bamboo so there is much to see on a tour. Behind us in this picture is Phyllostachys Stimulosa. This is native to the Zhejiang Province in China but it makes a great screen in Alabama. It is a great screening bamboo for climate zones 6 and warmer.
3 gallon size bamboo Roy and Patricia purchased many species of timber and unique bamboo to start their own groves. With a little care and time they will have beautiful bamboo forests to walk through. We appreciate their visit and it was pleasure to get to meet them.

We had an opportunity to work with Terrebonne Landscape Architectural Design again. This time it was for a modern new dental office in Anniston, AL. They required some ground cover and a few large bamboos to assist in a contemporary look. Loading bamboo for a delivery
65 gallon size of Semiarundinaria Fastuosa They needed some large plants to provide an impact for the grand opening. 65 gallon plants were selected to help and they are always fun to move.

65 gallon and 3 gallon bamboo This is a beautiful modern design with a wonderful paver parking lot. Here you can see the size of the Semiarundinaria fastuosa. These were selected because of their short limbs and tropical appearance. They will be used in a courtyard so, the shorter limbs will allow for easy passage.
You can see in the picture above (left hand side) the 3 gallon sizes of Shibataea lancifolia. These will be used on each side of the entrance seen on the right side picture. This will allow for lush foliage year around. It will also provide a low screen to hide the power service box. Modern design of a Dental office
Dental office with bamboo This is the main entrance of the dental office. It is a neat modern courtyard design with an open roof.
The large divisions of the Fastuosa, also called Japanese palm bamboo, will be used to line the courtyard in the beds that can be seen on both sides of the entrance way. The initial planting will be in the corners with growth eventually expanding to provide a lush living walkway into this office. Designing with bamboo
Fastuosa Bamboo Here is another picture of the bamboos. You can also see the entrance way in the left hand corner of the picture. It was a pleasure to get to work with Terrebonne again. They are a great firm and I would recommend them to anybody needing a unique design in the Birmingham and surrounding areas of Alabama.

A couple of weeks ago Matthew Burton from Groundscapes, LLC visited us. He needed some bamboo to help complete his landscaping project at P.F. Changs in Birmingham, AL. P.F. Changs
Bamboo at P.F. Changs He need a small groundcover and wanted bamboo to keep with the Asian inspired theme. He decided to plant Sasaella masamuneana 'Albostriata'. I know it is a long name but it is one of the prettiest groundcover bamboos. We appreciate the order and the landscape and design looks great. Thanks.

Mark and Judy returned for another visit with their family. They are collecting different species to start their bamboo farm in Tennessee. Bamboo tour
Phyllostachys Dulcis We had another great tour with them. There is a lot to see and absorb on one visit so, they wanted to come back and make another round. In this picture we are looking at some Phyllostachys Dulcis bamboo. The common name for this bamboo is sweet shoot bamboo. Most all bamboo shoots are edible, but this has a sugary taste and is highly prized for this attribute.
It was enjoyable to get to spend time with them and hear how their bamboo groves are progressing. We appreciate the repeat business and hope they had a great time also. Bamboo screen

Gibbs Landscaping Company Today, we were back in Atlanta, GA delivering to Gibbs Landscaping Company. They were given the task of preparing a living wall at the Savannah College of Art and Design. This was for the arrival of a new art exhibit.
Tall plants were needed to help provide a lush appearance for the premier. They chose tall green bamboo in the form of Decora, Slender Crookstem, and Aurea. We appreciate the business and look forward to seeing the exhibit. Large Bamboo

Nashville family Tour of bamboo in the rain
We had a visit from Daniel, Heidi, Hayden, and Nolen today. They made the short trip down from Nashville, TN to take a tour of the bamboo farm. The day started a little wet but cleared up towards the end. We appreciate their perseverance and we are always willing to tough out the rain if the customer wants to. It was a pleasure to get to meet them and I hope they had a great time despite the weather. Wet bamboo tours
